Victor-Victoria...The Final Act

Another of our laughs...let's all sing it... a 3 hour tour......

Well all good things must come to an end I guess but I hated to know this was our last day.  We spent most of the morning packing with yours truly having to buy a bag in the gift shop to get home all the things I bought...duh!    We can see Victoria, B.C. before 2 and up until then the seas were calm and it was very pleasant outside with little wind.  That all changed when we got close and the seas became very choppy and it was really windy.  We see a Princess ship is already docked and we seem to pass the entrance to the harbor and stop.  We can see the officiers on the bridge from our balcony and they are all there looking toward the back of the ship.  Hmmmmm, I wondered if I should be concerned.  There is also a good sized tug boat also next to us.  We are being blown closer and closer to shore sideways!  I looked at Kay and said I can't believe that the captain is going to back this ship into that slot next to the Princess ship.  The whole ship is vibrating with the engines and thrusters struggling against the wind.  I liken this to trying to put a watermellon into a sausage casing.  This should be interesting.  This goes on for nigh on to 1 1/2 hours but much to the captain's credit, we are docked in Victoria.  It is unbelievably windy...not cold, just horrible wind but it is an absolutely beautiful day!
Kay and I decided against an excursion which worked out great because the Orca one I would have booked got cancelled because of the high winds.  We take the local shuttle into downtown for $7 roundtrip.  What a beautiful city this is with well manicured gardens, beautiful buildings, beautiful flowers everywhere you look and a gorgeous inner harbor area.  Being a Sunday and a beautiful sunny day there were lots of people out and lots of local crafts and vendors around the harbor area.  We walked around and enjoyed the sights and shops and took lots of pictures.  Kay has had a bad cold all week and I feel like I am getting one.  Neither of us are very perky and decide to head back to the ship, get some dinner, finish the packing and put the luggage out and get to bed early.  What an effort it was for me to get this luggage finished us this time.  We both did the HAL luggage transfers and our boarding passes and luggage tags were delivered today and all was in order.  We took one last look from the balcony as the city was all lit up now, did some giggling and laughing again before turning out the lights for the last time.

You take such great photos! I am not a photographer, over the years I've stopped taking photos and just try to enjoy it while I'm there, but your photographs make me want to start taking them again. Beautiful!

Thanks Carol, this little Sony digital takes decent pictures but Kay has a better eye for pictures than I do and a better camera too! I took literally hundreds to get some good ones but I was so into the excitement and beauty we saw that I couldn't stop taking them!

I did a final review too to sum things up for you.
