Sleepless in Seattle

It was cloudy and raining and windy and cold when I landed in Seattle yesterday morning.  After the heat in Atlanta I wasn't going to complain...but I didn't wear a jacket so when we got to the hotel and out room wasn't ready, I had to dig through my luggage for my umbrella, coat and tennis shoes before we could take off.  The hotel is in the perfect location to exxplore downtown.  We are directly across the street form Pier 66 which is the NCL and Celebrity Cruise Pier and also where the Capt. Phil Harris Memorial was held (Deadliest Catch fans) and we had dinner last night at the Edgewater which is the hotel that is actually on a pier at the end of Pier 66.  It was a spectacular view from the restaurant as you can see from the pictures above.  The dinner was wonderful as well.  We watched the ships leave yesterday in the pouring rain and wind and then walked to the Edwater in the rain and at least it wasn't raining when we walked back.  I was so tired and after drinking a bottle of wine between us with dinner I felt like I had been hit with a sledge hammer.  I had been up since 4:45 AM Atlanta time and it was 9:30 PM Seattle rime when we got back to the room and I can guarantee I was NOT sleepless in Seattle last night!  We both woke at about 8:30 AM to fogm clouds and rain...again.  We took our time getting showered and dressed and then headed to Pik'es Market and it was an awesome day!
I could have spent the whole day in the market.  It was so cool and watching the fish fly (Auntie A & I talked about this the other night as she saw it on Samantha Brown) was the most fun...I just wanted to buy a fish for everyone just so that I could watch them throw then and yell while they do it!!  It was so much fun.  The fresh flowers in this pleace are unbelievable and the bunch above sold for $15.  We are going back to get some to take to the ship with us tomorrow.  We bought a few snacks of pastries, donuts, nuts and who knows what else and then the sun came out and it was beautiful.  We walked the blocks to the Sixth Avenue Wine Sellar to pick up the wine I ordered and  we proud that we were able to find it and walked there.  We decided to walk to the hotel and leave all wine (we bought more on the way back in another shop where we had fun with the owner) and go across the street and get lunch on the patio.  It was so pretty outside by thbn.  As soon as the sun came out it got warm and we shed the jackets.  We were texting Debbie too to keep her in the loop until my phone battery died. We ate and enjoyed watching the NCL Pearl (Debbie and I were on this ship in 2007 and my friend Dave will be cruising on her next February) pull away from the dock and head out to sea.  We took some more photos and decided we would rest and write the blogs before heading back up towards the maket for dinner tonight at Etta's.  I will report on that tomorrow.  It was a fun day in Seattle and there is so much to see and do here that I really want to come back.  It is a very cool city!

I had family obligations today (Sunday) so I hope you two had fun exploring.
Looking forward to reading both of your blogs - have fun!

By the way - the Edgewater was the hotel where the Beatles were photographed fishing out the window of their hotel room.
